Your nation has thrived in a democracy for generations. Citizens enjoy prosperity and security, but polarizing viewpoints and misinformation hastily ushered in by Information Era technology have left the nation divided and vulnerable. Whether rooted in fact or fiction, growth of discontent and fear has created fertile ground for a leader with visions of a future of ingenuity and justice fueled by the principles of yesteryear.

Seizing the moment, the candidate of the fledgling Utopian Party catapults to power with overwhelming support in the general election. With limited time and an aggressive agenda, the newly elected Executive proposes a bold solution: an Executive-appointed cabinet of expert industrialists to fast-track legislation in lieu of the usual snail-paced bureaucratic procedure. The legislative body agrees to test the proposal; after all, it reduces their burden, and the Executive does have unprecedented support from the people.

Initially the results were impressive. But over time, cracks begin to show, and warning signs of demagoguery and overreach emerge. Within the cabinet, a secret dissent grows. A skeptical faction takes note of the Executive’s true intentions: to usurp democracy and cement their rule indefinitely. With time running out before the next election, the Skeptics must carefully amend bills to curb the Executive’s powerplay, while evading exposure. Standing in the Skeptics’ way are their cabinet counterparts, Majoritarians, who share the Executive’s grim vision for the future, as well as the Executive’s wrath for any unloyal cabinet members.
